Mark Garlick



One of the earliest known trees, called Wattieza. 
They appeared in the  Mid Devonian about 385 million years ago. 
It had fronds instead of  leaves, and is closely related to ferns (which first appeared around the  same time as Wattieza) and horsetails. They stood about 8 m. tall.
